If you Google the product name or concept, you will find tons of China suppliers/manufacturers. However, you still think you have not got one, because you want to find a capable and reliable one that would satisfy your specific needs and have a strong desire to do business with you. Many people get frustrated because they have been communicating with suppliers in China for months, but fail to move forward. The reason, most likely, is that they did not find the suitable one at the beginning. To successfully find a suitable China supplier, you need a strategy. This strategy will consist of awareness, knowledge and a good amount of homework. Below are some practical steps to find a suitable Chinese supplier for you.

Understand what you need. You need to first know what is available and have a way to categorize the information. Here are some categories to help you think about Chinese suppliers: manufacturer vs. 3rd-party supplier; Big corporation vs. small family-owned; 3rd-party supplier with in-house product development capability vs. 3rd-party supplier that just buys-in and sells-out; vertically integrated manufacturer vs. assembly-based manufacturer; etc. Properly categorizing the suppliers will help you understand what you need. For example, if you need to import products in a narrow range, you may choose a manufacturer other than a 3rd-party supplier. If you are a small business and need dedicated attention, you may want to develop a good relationship with a small family-owned business.
Do some preliminary Internet research to further develop your category system towards your specific needs. Create a data table to help you record the search result, so the job can be done more efficiently and effectively. The table should include columns like company name, contact information, business scale and scope, category check boxes (important), and notes.
Use search engines to search information related to your product name. The first 100 results would be the most relevant websites related to the product of your concern. You can also find your competitors' information and develop a better sense of market segment and marketing channels.
Use popular business directory websites to obtain very structured information for Chinese suppliers. The directory websites are also excellent resource to obtain industrial knowledge.
Narrow down the the list of suppliers you want to work with to a manageable amount. At this stage, you may already know what your real needs are and what is available. Initiate contact with the suppliers you want to work with, and further develop relationships with them. Eventually, you will find the one. The process can be fun and a friendly experience.

Analyzing the types of suppliers has strategic importance. It will help you to understand where you are, what kind of results to expect, and what are the things you need to take care of in the mutual cooperation. You may want to have an experienced person help you to analyze the information. In your strategy, you will also need to include the consideration of the future contracting and operation. You may seek advice from Chinese professionals who understand the Chinese mentality, culture and business practices. You may get the incorrect interpretation if you visit the supplier's English website, or you could omit data that contains key information.
Just because a site is ranked higher in Google search listing, this does not necessarily mean it is a more serious business. Some very good Chinese suppliers are not well-versed in having their website listed highly, while some other Internet guys can have their website listed very highly. Use your industrial judgment.
Information comes from seemingly insignificant data, for example, the email addresses may reveal useful information about Chinese suppliers. However, do not judge an address too quickly. You never know where good information can come from.
Be aware that while the decision-maker may not speak any English, establishing good relationship (guanxi) with the top management is crucial for long-term success.
Email is good for exchanging product specifications, catalogue and price list. To establish a deeper relationship, a phone call is 10 times better than email. A personal meeting is 100 times better than a phone call. Many people want to start a business, so you have to show you are more serious. As long as your contact person uses English, you can just go ahead and give that person a phone call. It does not matter how much you and that person can understand each other; you can always follow up with an email.
Work with suppliers that have already exported their products to Europe or the US. Pay attention to the agent relationship. Many manufacturers may have their products exported to the US in good quantity through a third party supplier without an exclusive supply agreement. They may want to have direct channels to the US, and that might mean more business for you.
Consider accessing the U.S. customs records for your supplier to get an independently verified list of their shipments to the U.S. This will tell you who their customers are, how loyal those customers are, as well as the volume capabilities of your factory. An independent third party can be an excellent idea for a quick cost effective review of potential suppliers before you choose one to visit. There are many companies in China run by westerners who do this and can provide a good bridge between you and your supplier at the start.
A visit to your supplier production site in China is the only reliable way to truly know its capabilities, to check that the data you have collected on the company is 100% correct, and that ISO & Quality principles are applied: Check the factory organization, its process flows, the quality of goods produced, the packaging, the workers' training level, the overall working conditions, equipment maintenance, etc. This will give you an indication of how the company is managed. A face-to-face meeting with the supplier's management team will also give you an idea of their experience and willingness to embark on your project. You will also be able to create a friendly relationship, which is crucial for your project!
Document your product as effectively and as completely as you can. 3D drawings, 2D drawings, Bill Of Materials (BOM), photos, samples and prototypes are all good ways to do this. Sometimes, words just aren't enough.

Warnings

If you send out inquiries you will get tons of replies from suppliers of all kinds. Some guys may continuously send you product info for years, and are able to pass through all sorts spam protection. You may not want to use your primary email account to register with these sites.Contact a reliable outsourcing company [1]
Be careful with suppliers sub-contracting your order! When facing a backlog of deliveries, Chinese suppliers usually sub-contract them partially or in full, without taking the precaution to inform their clients! Most of the times this leads to sub-standard deliveries
Beware of cheap electronic products sellers from China. Many online sellers of electronic products in China are fraudulent sellers. Unless you are buying in bulk and the products are shipped legally passing through custom checks, then most likely you are buying the product from retailer or wholesaler who do not have export license. This means there is no way to know whether the product is Real or Imitation unless you are an expert. Famous brands will not allow their supplier to sell below their normal selling cost, therefore the suppliers are either selling illegally or it is actually an imitation.

Seminar Borong China 10 Disember 2011

Saya kini di Hong Kong Airport. As in my previous entry I have shared with all of you how to travel cheap from Hong Kong to GZ or Shenzhen. Why cheap? It is cheap because Air Asia frequently include Hong Kong in almost of their promo! Check it out. Use the search menu bhai!

Last night I was in Fuyong (about 1 hour from Shenzhen) meeting with OEM supplier of Digital Quran. InsyaAllah if I got enough fund and my soon to be partner agree with the plan, we will launch our own brand Digital Quran.

Next month on the 10th, Seminar Borong China will be held. So dont miss it out geng. I know many of you have registered, I will soon reply to your email.

Many of us don't know that China use different electrical wall outlet socket and have different voltage from other countries.

The electricity in China is generally 220V, 50HZ. That means if you are from Malaysia, you will have no problem using ur electronic device such as mobile phone,tablet and ipod/ipad in China.Normally any electrical device has electrical Input from ~100V-240V.

Check List when you are traveling to China

1. Passport and Visa : To apply for China Visa you can apply it at China Visa Application Centre located Bangunan OSK Jln Ampang.but before you head there please check their website here

2. Flight Ticket : Although you can buy your flight ticket 4 hours before departure, but it is cost savvy if you buy it earlier. Web check in or mobile check in will reduce more on your traveling budget.

3. Money-money-money : Don't forget to have some amount of Chinese RMB before you arrive in China. And just for your information, MYR is not widely recognized in registered money changer in China. Jadi tukar siap2 kat pengurup wang mamak!

4. Hotel : An early information or details of your hotels location will save time,energy and money too. So dont be lazy to search in the web. Or you can read my recommendation here

5. Physically and mentally fit. Make sure you are fit to explore the Borong China Market in Guangzhou. My advise 2 weeks before you depart to China, walk 1-2 km everyday.

Whilst an Islamic state was founded by Prophet Muhammad,may the mercy and blessings of God be upon him, China was enduring a period ofunification and defense. Early Chinese annals mentioned Muslim Arabs andcalled their kingdom al-Medina (of Arabia). Islam in Chinese is called “YisilanJiao” (meaning “Pure Religion”). A Chinese official once described Mecca as being the birthplace of Buddha Ma-hia-wu (i.e. Prophet Muhammad).

There are several historical versions relating to theadvent of Islam in China. Some records claim Muslims first arrived in China in two groups within as many months from Abyssinia (Ethiopia).

Ethiopia was the land where some early Muslims firstfled in fear from the persecution of the Quraysh tribe in Mecca. Among thatgroup of refugees were one of Prophet Muhammad’s daughters Ruqayya, her husbandUthman ibn Affan, Sad Ibn Abi Waqqas and many other prominent Companions whomigrated on the advice of the Prophet. They were successfully grantedpolitical asylum by the Abyssinian King Atsmaha Negus in the city of Axum (c.615 CE).

However, some Companions never returned to Arabia. They may have traveled on in the hope of earning their livelihood elsewhere andmay have eventually reached China by land or sea during the Sui Dynasty(581-618 CE). Some records relate that Sad Ibn Abi Waqqas and three other Companionssailed to China in c.616 CE from Abyssinia (Ethiopia) with the backing of theking of Abyssinia. Sad then returned to Arabia, bringing a copy of the Holy Quranback to Guangzhou some 21 years later, which appropriately coincides with theaccount of Liu Chih who wrote “The Life of the Prophet” (12 vols).

One of the Companions who lived in China is believed to have died in c.635 CE and was buried in the western urban part of Hami. Histomb is known as “Geys’ Mazars” and is revered by many in the surroundingregion. It is in the northwestern autonomous province of Xingjian (Sinkiang)and about 400 miles east of the latter’s capital, Urumqi. Xingjian is fourtimes the size of Japan, shares its international border with eight differentnations and is home to the largest indigenous group of Turkic-speaking Uyghurs. Hence, as well as being the largest Islamized area of China, Xingjian is also of strategic importance geographically.

The Sahabah Kiraam rahum left behind their motherland,family and their beloved Rasul saw just to spread the deen.Because it is at the end that Allah bless will overcome every circumstances and hardship, hence lead us to the Jannah!

When is Chinese New Year 2012

When will be the Chinese New year for 2012? Why I am asking this? During the Chinese New Year business activity become slow. My advise to you, if you plan to go for shopping or product sourcing avoid this peak season of Chinese New Year. For example if 2012 Chinese New Year start on 23 of January 2012, the season start as early as 10 of January and end only after 2 weeks of the celebration ie around mid February.

So my advise is, if you plan to go there for product sourcing please post pone your trip.Maybe early March is the best time to start visiting China again for business purpose.

Chow Kit was famously known as dark area in the year 60s-80s. Prostitution,drug pusher and gangsters were among many criminal activity that happened here in those time. But now the situation has changed a lot. Chow Kit especially Jalan Haji Taib draw many people here mainly because its wholesale market. People from all races Malay,Chinese,Indians,Pakistan,Indonesia and Africa come here to get their supply and stock.

For your easy reference Chow Kit comprises Jalan Raja Laut at the east, Jalan Hj Taib in the middle, Plaza GM at the north and Plaza TAR at its west. Tour the area and you will find a lot of wholesale shops.If you plan to shopping, dont forget to bring a small trolley.

The nearest train station is the Chow Kit Monorail Station. Besides many Rapid KL and Metrobus use Chow Kit as their pick up and drop off point. Parking bays are very limited.

If you are familiar with the place, you can see everyday lorries from logistic company arrive to send goods and products here. And the goods are wrapped in green or white packaging. Almost all the goods are imported from China wholesaler or supplier.

Proposal to Adjust Guangzhou Taxi Fares Announced

The Price Control Administration of Guangzhou Municipality recently announced the two taxi fare adjustment proposals which were discussed at a recent hearing: the first is to adjust the starting price to 9 RMB within 2.3 km; the second scheme proposes to increase the starting price to 10 RMB within 2.5 km, and both proposals include a premise that the fuel surcharge should be cancelled. The proposal also hopes to establish a linkage mechanism between taxi tariffs and fuel price.

Guangzhou has 4 season like most of the places in China. But the best thing about Guangzhou weather is the long summer it has. The humidity is consider low hence you need to bring with you moisture and lip balm. Sufficient sunshine is an advantage for those who wish to explore Guangzhou Wholesale market.

During the summer time the temperature can reach as high as 40 C (102 F), and during winter as low as 10 C (50 F). But fortunately the winter is short and with little frost.

During autumn and spring do consider to bring extra rain jacket and don't forget your umbrella all the time. It might be a whole rainy and thunder day during these two season.

This is my second visit to Shang Xia Jiu Lu. The street is a hang out place for youth in Guangzhou. It has lot to offer. Various shop selling latest fashion from top to bottom, bags and necklace, Shang Xia Jiu Lu is the best place for you to shop until drop.

The surrounding remind me of Chinese Kung Fu film. The Guangzhou authority has taken their best effort to preserve the old building along the street. The street has been paved with bricks and stone to promote its identity as Pedestrian Shopping Street.

Let us recap. In my previous entry I have stated that most of the Guangzhou Cloth Plaza are located near the Guangzhou Railway Station.

FYI. Zhan means Station Xi means West.

From the Guangzhou Railway Metro station, go to the E exit and up the stairs. Go to the back of the stairs and turn right. You will see a bus station on your left and a post office on your right. Keep going to the end of the block. You will see the watch market on the left. Turn left. Here you will find a huge block full of clothes buildings, both sides. Source here

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao Visits Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, April 26 (Bernama) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao arrives here tomorrow for his second official visit to Malaysia, accompanied by a 118-member delegation, including four ministers.

Several agreements and memoranda of understanding will be signed during the two-day visit.

Wen and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak are scheduled to attend the Malaysia-China Economic, Trade and Investment Forum.

According to Wisma Putra, the visit allowed Malaysia and China to take stock of the development of bilateral cooperation in various areas and follow up on agreements achieved during Najib's visit to China in June 2009.

Wen had attended the first East Asia Summit and the ninth Asean-China Summit and Asean Plus Three Summit held in Kuala Lumpur from Dec 11 to 15, 2005. His second visit is to reciprocate Najib's 2009 visit when the Joint Action Plan on Malaysia-China Strategic Cooperation was issued.

Relations between the two countries were elevated to strategic partnership covering 12 key areas of cooperation, including politics, economics and education.

The Foreign Ministry said that Malaysia's bilateral trade with China increased more than six-fold over the past 10 years, reaching US$45.66 billion last year, compared with US$6.27 billion in 2000.

In 2010, China was Malaysia's largest trading partner, second largest export destination and largest source of import.

Wisma Putra added in a statement that Malaysia is China's eight largest trading partner, 16th largest export destination and seventh largest source of import.

Malaysia has also been China's largest trading partner in Asean for three consecutive years since 2008, it said.

The CEO and chief exec of Alibaba.com have left the company after taking some responsibility for fraud found on the website.

Although they claim they had nothing to do with the fraud, CEO David Wei and CE Elvis Lee are both leaving the company after internal company investigations found a spike in the number of fraudulent transactions conducted on its site by the so-called China Gold Suppliers network of high volume members in late 2009 and throughout 2010.

It's not quite a case of Alibaba and its 40 thieves. The company said that no-one in the company was involved in the activity, but the pair were leaving after taking responsibility for the "systemic breakdown."

Jonathan Lu, CEO of Alibaba Group's retail website Taobao.com, has been named as the replacement, taking on both companies.

According to a statement, the probe into the fraud at Alibaba, which also owns Yahoo China, was started when an eagle eyed employee noticed suspicious activity and went running to the board.

We assume he got a gold star and a pat on the back, as the investigation found that some suppliers offered bulk orders of consumer electronics at "very attractive prices, a low minimum order quantity and less reliable payment transfer methods." The value of the average claim was below $1,200, Alibaba said.

It said it had shut down 2,326 "Gold Suppliers" found to have used the site to defraud buyers.

Hari kedua diteruskan dengan melawat plaza2 borong yang menjadi tumpuan para peserta. Trip yang dianjurkan oleh BorongChina menghadkan maksimum 10 org peserta bg membolehkan semua orang mendapat barang2 yang ingin mereka lihat,banding,beli dan borong.

Belajar menaiki METRO

Pada hari ini kami melawat Plaza Pakaian Kanak-Kanak di Zongshan. Perjalanan dari hotel ke Zongshan mengambil masa 15 minit dengan menaiki metro.Bagi pihak BorongChina, menaiki kenderaan awam seperti Metro memberikan peluang kepada para peserta untuk belajar sendiri secara langsung selok belok lokasi-lokasi pemborongan. Disamping itu ia memberikan nilai tambah kepada keyakinan diri para peserta untuk bergerak sendiri pada msa akan datang.

Secara peribadi, saya beranggapan sesiapa yang menguasai jaringan Metro di Guangzhou ini, mereka tidak akan tersesat!

As usual BorongChina take the morning flight departing at 0535. This is to ensure our arrival in GZ is smooth and hassle free. We checked in to Jinjiang Inn Hotel at 1045. Surprisingly the hotel is almost full and the rate now has increased.

After 2 hours break, we start our trip with Cloth and Garment Plaza at Liu Hua. Although the area of Guangzhou Railway Station are well known with lot of Garments and Clothes Market, Liu Hua is still the best place to find varieties of men and women garments and clothes in Guangzhou.

Salam semua. Tentu ramai yg ingin tahu bagaimana ukuran barang dan proses ukurannya dilakukan untuk shipping barang dari China ke Malaysia.

Mari kita kenali dulu terma2 dalam kontena dan shipping ini.

FCL	-----	full container load; full carload
LCL	-----	less than container load; loose container load; less than carload; loose carload

Bagi peniaga kecil, mungkin pesanan anda tidak penuh satu kontena baik yg 20 kaki apatah lagi 40 kaki. Untuk itu shipping secara LCL (Less than one container load/ loose container load) akan digunakan. Kaedah menggunakan ukuran secara isipadu setiap barang yg akan dihantar melalui kontena laut.

Ukuran

Kebiasaannya barang-barang yang dihantar akan diukur dalam ukuran cubic metre (CBM). Mari kita perhatikan rajah di bawah

Ini contoh quotation yg saya dapat dari pembekal di China. Perhatikan dalam ruangan QTY/CTN dan Qty for 1*20GP

Kedua-dua ruangan ini menerangkan berkenaan ukuran barang yang dipesan untuk shipping. Bagi 4 unit barang ini, ukurannya ialah 0.1 CBM (cubic meter / m3).

1 Cubic meter ini bersamaan 1 meter Tinggi x 1 meter Lebar x 1 meter Dalam.

1 m3 = 1m x 1m x 1m

Sekiranya anda memesan barang dari China, dan barang tersebut dibungkus dalam karton / kotak, kebiasannya ukuran kotak tersebut akan diberikan dalam cm. Cara utk mengira ukuran kotak2 tersebut dalam cubic meter ialah

CBM Calculation Formula : Length (centimeter) x Width (centimeter) x Height (centimeter) / 1,000,000 = Length meter x Width meter x Height meter = Cubic meter (m3) .

Katakanlah satu kotak tersebut berukuran 35 cm x 35 cm x 45 cm . Jadi ukurannya dalam cbm ialah

35 cm x 35 cm x 45 cm / 1,000,000 = = 0.055 cbm

Katakan anda membeli 10 kotak, bermakna jumlah cbm anda ialah 0.055 cbm x 10 = 0.55 cbm

Bayaran

Dari pengalaman saya, bayaran bagi setiap cbm berbeza mengikut syarikat freight / shipping forwarder. Tetapi ia adalah dalam linkungan RM 300 - 400 bagi setiap cbm.

Kebanyakkan syarikat shipping menetapkan minimum cbm utk shipping ialah 1cbm. Jadi sekiranya barang anda tidak cukup 1 cbm bayarannya tetap akan dibulatkan ke 1 cbm.

Tempoh

Tempoh shipping adalah berdasarkan muatan kontena yg cepat penuh. Lagi cepat penuh kontena lagi cepatlah kontena tersebut akan dihantar ke pelabuhan.

Dalam entry akan datang saya akan kongsikan pula pengalaman menghantar satu kontena penuh barang.

China Budget Hotel

Staying in Chinese unfamiliar budget hotel can have some surprise. For example you wouldn't expect to get a midnight call offering massage service by the Chinese girls. The location is bad plus the facilities is usually below par.

But nowadays with the rise of new and modern Chinese budget chain hotel namely Home Inns, HanTing Inn, Jinjiang Inn, 7 Days Inn and lots more, the difference between the five star hotel and with this kind of hotel is not really big at all.

I visited Guangzhou 3 times last year for business. Normally I stay either at Jinjiang Inn near Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall or HanTing just beside it. Both hotel have meet my expectation. Quite surrounding, daily room service, Internet access and clean interior. The aircond and hot tap worked and the workers change the basic toiletries everyday. For a five day stay I will get 5 toothbrushes, 5 shower cap and 5 soaps.

The major problem is only that, the online booking system is not working properly. The website is in Chinese and the translated English version is either down or not fully functioning. What you can do is to view the website using Google Chrome. The browser can automatically translate the Simplified Chinese into English. From there you can try booking. Another way round you can ask your Chinese friend to book it for you. Dengan syarat dia pon boleh faham English laaa.....

But dont worry, other than peak season, there will be always vacant room available. For more info visit

Guangzhou Metro Line 3 : Airport Baiyun - Panyu Square

This the news that I have been waiting for. Now passenger who landed in Baiyun International Airport Guangzhou can choose to ride with the Guangzhou Metro/Subway direct to the Guangzhou City Centre.

There are 5 interchange in between the route

Line 3 - Line 2 at Jiahewanggang
Line 3 - Line 1 at Guangzhou East Railway Station
Line 3 - Line 1 at Tiyu Xi Lu
Line 3 - Line 5 at Zhujiang New Town
Line 3 - Line 8 at Kecun

I like to stay in Jinjiang Inn or Hanting Inn near the Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall. Using the fare calculator here, the ticket from the Airport South Metro Station to Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall costs me only RMB 12. And the time taken is only 37 minutes (I calculate it here )

Short comparison

Taxi Baiyun Airport - GZ City Centre = RMB 100 / taxi ; 45 minutes
Bus Baiyun Airport - GZ City Centre = from RMB 18 / person, 50 - 65 minutes

Where is the Metro Station in the Airport

First you need to locate in which area you are. For international flight you will be most probably in the area A

How to find metro station in A area

If you are from international flight, you will either exit from E1 or E2. From this exit, proceed to elevator near Gate A4 (near the 7-11 convenient shop), walk 10 minute through underground channel, arrive at the metro station at floor -1. Metro line 3 starts from here.

Nowadays many trader small or big buy directly from China's supplier via B2B website like Alibaba and Made-In-China. The process is not that hard but sometimes little bit tricky.

Many times happen that some of us just fall into prey into scammer and cheater that sell nothing except advertising things that does not exist at all.

Let me share my experience dealing with supplier in Alibaba.

The main question asked by many:

How could we trust a supplier in Alibaba
How to transfer money to the supplier in China. What measurement should I take?

Question # 1
How could we trust a supplier in Alibaba.

Deal only with Gold Supplier.
Cross check their profile with other B2B website
Get in touch with the supplier first via Trade Manager (A firefox extension that enable chatting between you and supplier in Alibaba). Have some sort of ice breaking chat with them
Before you place your order, ask for quotation. If you dont have shipping agent/warehouse in China, ask them to quote the shipping cost separately
Upon agreeing with the quotation, ask for the invoice

Question # 2

How to transfer money to supplier in China. The best and safest way is to use telegraphic transfer (TT) via local major bank. What measurement should I take?

Ask the supplier to give the final price in both RMB and USD
Ask the supplier to give their personal details (Full name and ID #)
Ask the supplier their bank details (Bank Address, SWIFT Code are compulsory)
Fill in the TT form. Ask the bank officer to help you
You will need to pay processing charge. So prepare extra money.
Wait 15 minutes. And done
Within 24 hours, check with the supplier if they have receive the money. Always keep your TT form copy with you for future reference.

Pada hari kelima trip yang lalu, saya membawa kreatan akhbar Harian Metro ke Masjid Maqam Saad Abi Waqas. Saya menunjukkan kepada jemaah tempatan gambar Issa Ma dan isterinya. Selepas asar seorang pakcik bernama Yaakub membawa saya bertemu Issa di Nanfang Taxa. Mereka cukup gembira melihat saya membawa keratan akhbar tersebut dan meminta utk menyimpannya. Saudara Issa juga kenal dengan beberapa rakan saya di Masjid Sri Petaling.

ADA 10 juta penduduk di Guangzhou, China dan 100,000 daripadanya beragama Islam. Guangzhou, kota ketiga terbesar di China selepas Beijing dan Shanghai, pesat membangun padat dengan manusia yang sibuk mengejar masa dan wang.

DEMI REZEKI…pasangan Issa dan Salima tekad berniaga sendiri di tengah kepesatan Guangzhou.
Kita tidak boleh lambat atau jalan berlenggang di Guangzhou kerana selain ketinggalan kita mungkin juga akan kelaparan.
Dalam 10 juta manusia itu, penulis terserempak Salima Ma, 29, ketika meminta pertolongan menunjukkan jalan ke masjid. Senang mengenali Salima adalah Muslim kerana pakaiannya menutup aurat. Dia yang baru berbuka puasa waktu itu bersungguh-sungguh menunjuk jalan ke masjid kepada penulis.
Dengan bahasa Inggeris yang agak baik, agak mudah kami menjalin hubungan dengannya. Sebelum berpisah, ibu beranak satu itu sempat memberitahu mempunyai kedai menjual peralatan telefon dan memberi kad perniagaannya di Central Communication, Jalan Xi Ti Er berhadapan bangunan Plaza Namfang, berdekatan Sungai Pearl.
Tiga hari selepas itu baru berkesempatan bertemu Salima semula kerana hujan sangat lebat melanda Guangzhou sekali gus mengehadkan perjalanan.

Salima menyambut kami dengan penuh ramah dan kami diperkenalkan kepada suaminya, Issa.
Ma Sheng Xing atau Issa Ma, 29, berkelulusan komputer daripada Universiti North National aktif dalam bidang dakwah di kawasan tempat tinggal dan pekerjaannya.
Salima Ma mempunyai nama cina Ma Yu Lain, berkelulusan alam sekitar, sentiasa menjadi penyokong kuat suaminya.

“Di Guangzhou, ada 100,000 Muslim dengan pecahan 60,000 orang tempatan manakala selebihnya golongan pendatang,” cerita Issa sambil melayan pelanggan yang tidak putus-putus datang ke kedainya.
BERKEMBANG…masjid di Guangzhou menjadi kunjungan umat Islam.
Misi dakwah Issa dan rakan masjidnya sentiasa berjalan setiap minggu iaitu pada Khamis. Pada hari itu, mereka akan menerangkan kepada orang bukan Islam mengenai Islam tidak kira seorang, dua atau lebih ramai.
Issa memberitahu dia pernah ke Malaysia di Sri Petaling bagi kunjungan dakwahnya beberapa tahun lalu.
Salima berasal dari Dong Xiang, Gangsu manakala Issa pula dari Xinjiang. Mereka berkahwin lima tahun lalu setelah diperkenalkan oleh ayah Salima yang merupakan seorang imam. Pasangan berpendidikan tinggi itu tidak kisah tidak dapat makan gaji sesuai dengan kelulusan mereka.

“Untuk hidup di Guangzhou bukan mudah. Sebelum ini kami cuba bekerja dengan syarikat lain selama dua tahun tetapi tiada kesesuaian.

“Sukar mendapat rakan sekerja dan majikan yang memahami kita sebagai Muslim. Mereka akan mempertikaikan pelbagai perkara seperti mengapa kita tidak mahu makan bersama mereka, tidak makan makanan mereka dan tidak berpakaian seperti mereka yang menjolok mata. Cara hidup kita juga dipandang sinis,” katanya.
Menjadi kaum minoriti perit dirasakan terutama untuk mengamalkan Islam secara bebas. Contohnya laungan azan, langsung tidak dibenarkan berkumandang kuat seperti di Malaysia.
“Di rumah hanya boleh ada sebuah al-Quran, sekiranya kerajaan tahu ada lebih daripada itu, ia perlu diberikan kepada mereka.

“Mereka cukup risau sekiranya dengan al-Quran itu kami mahu memberontak walhal ia langsung tidak benar. Kami cuma mahu hidup aman damai dan melakukan amal ibadat terhadap Allah sebaik mungkin,” kata Salima.

Maka pasangan suami isteri itu tekad berniaga sendiri. Mereka bangkit dengan usaha sendiri walau kesusahan awal masih berbekas sehingga kini.

“Dahulu, waktu bekerja dengan orang, gaji saya 4,000 yuan dan jumlah itu tidak mencukupi kerana lebih daripada dua pertiga habis untuk sewa rumah dan perbelanjaan lain sangat tinggi.
“Menyewa rumah di Guangzhou sangat mahal sekitar 4,000 hingga 5,000 yuan (RM2,000 hingga RM2,500) sebulan. Jadi kami berazam, dengan berniaga sendiri pendapatan dapat digandakan untuk kehidupan yang lebih baik,” katanya.

Untuk menyewa kedai sebesar enam kali lapan kaki luasnya, wang pendahuluan 20,000 yuan bagi kontrak lima tahun. Bayaran bulanan pula sangat tinggi iaitu 6,000 yuan. Memang sukar bagi mereka berdua yang datang daripada keluarga susah.
“Kami banyak berdoa pada Allah memohon bantuan-Nya. Alhamdulillah, setelah lima tahun, perniagaan kami makin kukuh dan kami berjaya membeli apartmen berharga 150,000 yuan.
“Walaupun kecil, ia cukup membanggakan kerana hartanah di Guangzhou sangat mahal,” kata Issa.
Menurut Issa dan Salima, peniaga lain tidak takut dosa kerana itu mereka tidak kisah menipu pelanggan.

“Ada yang mahu cepat untung dan menipu dengan menjual murah walhal barang yang dijual tidak menepati mutu sebenar tetapi bagi kami, hendak buat apa pun teringat balasan akhirat.

Umat Islam di Guangzhou juga melalui cabaran besar mengukuhkan iman sebagaimana umat Islam di negara lain.

Menurut Issa, ramai saudara seagamanya di China yang dilihatnya tidak mempraktikkan Islam walaupun asal usul mereka jelas Islam.
Keadaan itu merisaukannya namun dia lega kerana kini banyak sekolah agama ditubuhkan dan ada kira-kira 20 sekolah semuanya.

Sekurang-kurangnya, ini membantu golongan muda untuk lebih mengukuhkan Islam. Maka tidak hairan sudah ramai anak-anak muda Islam di China boleh berbahasa Arab.
“Ketika saya mula sampai di sini pada 2003, kemudahan untuk orang Islam belum banyak seperti sekarang.
“Dulu, saya yang selalu menjadi tukang sembelih daging untuk semua orang tetapi kini semuanya mudah didapati, begitu juga kedai makan Islam,” kata Issa sambil menambah, di mana ada kemahuan di situ ada jalan.

Anak tunggal mereka, Sofia, setahun, tinggal di kampung bersama ibu Salima kerana bagi Issa, Guangzhou bukan tempat yang sesuai mendidik anak terutama menanam jiwa keislaman. Guangzhou mungkin boleh menjadi tempat mencari rezeki sahaja.
Air mata ibu mengalir kerinduan apabila Salima menunjuk gambar anaknya kepada penulis. Mereka dipisahkan jarak ribuan batu tetapi itulah harga mencari rezeki dan dakwah, kedua-duanya demi Islam.

Day 6 : Masjid Saad Abi Waqas - Airport

It´s time to go home. As members of Hotel Jinjiang, I have special privilege to checkout at 2pm. Non member must check out at 12 pm. Since it is Friday, Abg Jamal, Faesal and me went to Saad Abi Waqas mosque for Friday prayer.

The new mosque is now three times bigger than the old one. It can now fit more than 3000 thousand worshiper at one time. The new double storey mosque has started its renovation since early this year and it is just completed before the Eid Fitri.

Kami meninggalkan Guangzhou awal takut2 terperangkap dalam kesesakan lalu lintas akibat Canton Fair sudah bermula. Perlu diingat harga hotel akan menjadi dua tiga kali lebih mahal pada Canton Fair. Jadi elakkan pergi ke Guangzhou pada waktu canton fair sekiranya anda tidak merancang untuk ke Canton Fair.

Day 5 : Melawat Gudang dan acara bebas

Saya suka membuat trip selama 6 hari 5 malam atau 5 hari 4 malam bergantung kepada perbincangan awal para peserta. Banyak faktor mempengaruhi pemilihan tarikh dan masa yang sesuai. Antara faktor yang saya sering titik beratkan ialah harga tiket, suasana di Guangzhou / Yiwu, cuaca dan sebagainya. Trip kali ini mengambil masa 6 hari 5 malam. Kebiasaannya pada hari terakhir trip saya akan membawa peserta ke gudang untuk menghantar barang2 yang dibeli secara kecil2an dan runcit2an. Disamping itu peserta sendiri akan melihat proses penerimaan barangan dan pemprosesan dokumen.
Kadangkala ada barangan yang kita berkenan tetapi tidak available pada masa tersebut. Barang tersebut perlu di tempah dan hanya akan available pada 2-3 hari berikutnya. Disinilah peranan gudang. Caranya cukup mudah. Buat tempahan dengan membayar sedikit deposit. Dapatkan resit sebagai salinan rasmi. Sekiranya tempahan kita besar dan bayarannya banyak, tidak perlu bayar semua sekiranya barang tidak dapat disediakan dihadapan kita. Berikan contact dan alamat gudang kepada pembekal untuk mereka berurusan sesama mereka.

Kita boleh serahkan duit kepada ejen gudang untuk uruskan. Apabila barang2 semua telah siap disediakan, pembekal akan menghubungi ejen gudang untuk bertanyakan status pembayaran. Dengan duit yang kita telah tinggalkan, ejen gudang akan membayar untuk barang2 yang kita telah pesan dan pembekal akan menghantarnya ke gudang. (Pada waktu ini kita sudah berada di Malaysia).

2 minggu kemudian insyaALlah barang2 kita akan sampai di Malaysia. (Khabarnya trip kali ini shipping barang2 berukuran lebih 2 cbm) Besar tu untuk 4 orang peserta. TAHNIAH!

Selepas melawat gudang para peserta dibenarkan untuk acara bebas. Bermakna saya sekali lagi tidak bersama peserta secara langsung. Pada waktu ini para peserta telah menguasai sedikit sebanyak cara menaiki METRO, jalan2 di bandar Guangzhou dan juga selok belok memborong.

Hasilnya, peserta telah meredah sendiri jalan dari Baiyun World Leather Centre ke Plaza Kosmetik berhampiran Guangzhou Railway Station. WOW! Lebih 2 kilometer juga mereka berjalan kaki.

Kebiasaannya pada hari keempat trip, saya akan membiarkan sendiri para peserta trip utk membuat ulang lawat ke plaza2 yang mereka telah pergi pada hari pertama hingga ketiga.

Trip kali ini menyaksikan sepasang peserta berminat dengan plaza fabrik dan kain yang terletak berhampiran Sun Yat Sen University.

Sepasang yang lain pula berminat utk memborong beg2 di kawasan Baiyun World Leather Centre dan sekitarnya.

Maka hasilnya ialah lebih kurang RMB 35,000 telah dibelanjakan oleh para peserta saya kali ini.

Saya hanya berfungsi sebagai pemudahcara. Hari pertama hingga ketiga ialah untuk membiasakan peserta dengan selok belok di Guangzhou dan membawa mereka melawat plaza2 borong yang mereka ingin pergi.

Oleh sebab itu jugalah setiap trip saya hanya membawa tidak lebih dari 8 orang peserta.

Day 3 : Baiyun International Leather Centre - Yide Lu

Sarapan pagi kami ialah di restoran La Mian terletak berhampiran jejantas yang menghubungkan Yi Sen Leather Centre dengan Baiyun Leather International Centre.

Kedai kepunyaan En Omar ini agak bersih berbanding kedai En Omar yang lagik satu yang dekat dengan Hotel Jin Jiang Inn Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall. Jadi berselera sikit nak makan. Dengan sepinggan mee tarik dan sedikit lauk dan sayur sudah mampu untuk alas perut hingga ke petang. Harga pula tidak mahal hanya RMB 10.

Menghabiskan masa lebih kurang 2 jam di area situ.

Apa yang agak mengejutkan kebanyakkan kedai tidak menjual beg AAA berjenama Prada, LV, Guess dan Gucci dan lain2nya. Mengapa ya?? Seperti mana di Plaza TAR dan GM begitu jugalah disini. Menjelang

Canton Fair penguatkuasaan terhadap barang2 tiruan ini agak ketat dan kebanyakkan kedai tak akan display beg2 tersebut pada waktu2 sebegini.

Puan Azlin sangat berkenan dengan beg sekolah Thomas and Friends dan juga Lightning McQueen dalam cerita Car. Tetapi pekedai tersebut kata tiada stok! Melepassss.........memang kedai tu murah gile!

Selepas itu kami pergi ke Yide Lu. Memang tidak sah saya rasa mana2 trip akan melawat One Link Plaza. Bermacam2 barangan ada dalam One Link Plaza. Cuma ingin saya ingatkan, harganya mungkin boleh didapati di GM atau Chow Kit sekiranya anda beli sedikit atau anda tidak tawar langsung.

Akhir sekali kami terus ke Ximenkou untuk makan malam di Nur Bostan.

Day 2 : Zhongshanba - Sun Yat Sen University

Hari ini hari kedua Trip Belajar Memborong di Guangzhou berlangsung. Destinasi hari ini ialah Zhongshanba.

Zong Shan Ba Rd ( Zong Shan Ba Lu) 中山八路97号荔湖大厦.

Di Zhongshanba terdapat dua plaza untuk pakaian kanak2 dan aksesori.

Setelah dua jam disana (1000 - 1200) kami bertolak ke Sun Yat Sen University untuk melawat Plaza Fabrik dan Tekstil. Apa yang menarik, laluan Metro untuk ke Sun Yat Sen University bukan lagi Line 2, tetapi telah ditkar menjadi Line 8. Dari Line 2 perlu tukar di Changgang untuk ke Line 8. Sekiranya dahulu Line 2 tamat di Wanshengwei ke arah selatan, kini stesen akhir Line 2 ialah Guangzhou South Railway Station.

Metro Guangzhou kini memiliki Line 1,2,3,4,5,8 (6 dan 7 masih dalam pembinaan)

Salah seorang peserta iaitu Puan Hanim memiliki butik pakaian di Plaza PKNS. Jadi beliau sangat arif tentang pemilihan tekstil dan kain.Banyak sample kain yang beliau ambil dari kedai2.

Kami bertolak pulang dalam jam 1630.

Pada malamnya kami makan di Restoran Al Jazeera yang baru dibuka di Xiao Bei Lu.

Day 1 : Trip belajar Memborong ke Guangzhou, China

Perjalanan dari Baiyun International Airport ke Guangzhou cukup menarik kali ini. Persiapan menjadi tuan rumah Sukan Asia sedang giat dijalankan. Banyak rumah dan bangunan di tepi highway dicat baru. Kerajaan tempatan Guangzhou memberikan peruntukan kepada premis2 dan bangunan untuk mengecat baru bangunan mereka.

Pemandangan depan hotel JinJiang Inn

Cuaca di Guangzhou sekitar 22°C dan keadaan berkabus. Trip kali ini disertai oleh dua orang pasangan suami isteri. En Jamal dan Puan Hanim dan En Faesal dan Puan Azlin. Keempat-empat mereka belum pernah ke Guangzhou sebelum ini.
Kami tiba di hotel Jinjiang Inn tepat jam 1050 pagi. Urusan kemasukan (check in) cukup menguji kesabaran kami, proses check in menjadi lambat kerana saya berbincang panjang dengan pihak hotel berkenaan loyalty card dan juga harga bilik rate Canton Fair pada hari 14-15 Oktober 2010 yang menyaksikan harga bilik naik 150%.

Tip : Elakkan datang ke Guangzhou pada Canton Fair sekiranya anda tidak ada agenda di Canton Fair. Segala2nya boleh menjadi mahal!

Selepas berehat seketika kami makan tengahari di Xiaobei Lu di Restoran Al Rafideen. Memang perut orang melayu kecil sahaja. Makanan yang diorder utk 3 orang pon tak habis di makan oleh 5 orang.

Kemudian kami ke Plaza2 Pakaian di sekitar Guangzhou Railway Station. Plaza Baima dan Liu Hua menjadi tumpuan kerana koleksi pakaiannya yang menepati citarasa individu mahupun peniaga. Dengan kedatangan musim sejuk, banyak kedai sudah mula menjual koleksi pakaian sejuk dari shawl2 yang tebal2 hinggalah legging kaki yang tebal2.

Saya dengar bahawa di Shahe kita boleh dapat pakaian lelaki dan wanita pada harga yang lebih rendah dengan kompromi pada kualitinya. Mungkin hari terakhir akan melawat Shahe.

Guangzhou: Per Capita GDP Exceeds US$10,000

In 2006 the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Guangzhou in south China's Guangdong Province grew 14.4 percent to make it the first mainland city to generate a per capita GDP greater than US$10,000.

China Business News has published an interview with Peng Peng, an official at the Guangzhou branch of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. He said the city's GDP grew to 623.6 billion yuan in 2006, up from over 545 billion in 2005. The city has 7.0266 million permanent residents so the per-capita GDP now actually exceeds US$11,000.

Peng said per-capita GDP was generally considered a more reliable measure of economic development than GDP alone. The World Bank considers regions with a per capita GDP greater than US$10,000 to be developed.

But Peng also said the figure wasn't a completely accurate indication of economic development because it only accounts for residents with permanent homes. The city plans to lift the per capita GDP for all of the city's residents to more than US$10,000 by 2010.

Per capita GDP in Hong Kong and Taiwan surpassed US$10,000 in 1987 and 1992. The International Monetary Fund's GDP rankings for 2005 show 45 countries and regions have a per-capita GDP greater than US$10,000 dollars. Hong Kong and Taiwan ranked 23rd and 37th at $24,581 and $13,926 respectively. The mainland ranked 106th with US$1,703.

Guangzhou surpassed Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen in 2005 when its per capita GDP was US$8,500 compared to US$5457, $7600 and $7300 respectively in the other cities.

In a report released at the just-concluded party conference officials said the city would maintain the per capita GDP above $10,000 until 2010. They'll also focus on improving the quality of economic growth instead of the previous growth-above-all policy.

An insider from the local government revealed the city will focus on economic restructuring. It will introduce further reforms and work to alter the current model of growth to ease environmental pressures.

For Muslim traveler, halal food is a big concern and is a need. Guangzhou or previously known as Canton has a large of Muslim population. To help my fellow Muslim travel from around the globe here I compile some of the famous Muslim and Halal Restaurant in Guangzhou

There are two area which are famous with Muslim dine and cuisine

One is along the road of Huan Shi Zhonglu 环市东路锺鲁

There are up to 6 Muslim and Halal Restaurant over there

How to go there?
Tare Metro Line 5 and disembark at Xiaobei Station.

You can choose either exit A or D to directly go to the Huan Shi Zhonglu. From the exits you can see many restaurant that serves halal food for Muslim in Guangzhou.To name a few you can find Al Jazeera, Bosphorus and Pizza 2 Pizza at exit A

There is one famous restaurant call Salam restaurant above Dong Freng Hotel

Salam restaurant.It is located in the African community settlement

And from exit D which is across the road you can find Hadramawt, one Pakistani restaurant and if you walk with the stream, you will find Salam restaurant which is located at the African Community area.

Another place is San Yuan Li 三元里

At least 3 famous Muslim and Halal Restaurant are located there. One of these is the famous Abdullah Qinghai Muslim Restaurant.

If you are fast food lover and like a simple and schneller essen, visit Salam Harbor. It is just next to exit A1 of San Yuan Li Metro Station. Take Line 2 and disembark at San Yuan Li.

To Guangzhou via Hong Kong

Since January 2010, Air Asia has had promoted cheap ticket to Hong Kong. Many didn't know that, it is sometime cheaper to travel to Guangzhou via Hong Kong. Here I share three options that you can choose according to your time, budget and convenient

Option 1 ( Not so cheap but less hectic. Please allocate 4 hours time if you are into something)
Bus direct from Hong Kong Airport to Guangzhou. You can buy the ticket from the counter at terminal one inside the Hong Kong International Airport. It will cost you RMB 250. The journey will take you around 2 and half hour. But beware...it will take longer if the check point at the border is busy. For example during holidays and weekend. The bus from Hong Kong airport will stop at Huangang. There you need to pass the border.You need to board new bus after entering China Mainland.

Option 2 (Fast and reliable)
Buy train via Hung Hom Train Station. Take the airport shuttle number A21. You can take the bus at terminal 2 of the Hong Kong International Airport. Normally it will take 50 minutes for you to arrive at the Hung Hom Station. There buy the train ticket to Guangzhou East. It will cost you RMB 230. The travel time is approximately two and half hours.

Option 3 (Cheap but quite adventurous.Please allocate 4 hours time if you are into something)
First take airport bus shuttle number A43 to Sheng Shui Station. It will take you around 50 minutes to arrive there. There board the metro towards Lo Wu. Lo Wu is located at the border between Hong Kong and China Mainland. From the station you have to walk around 10 minutes to cross the border. Immigration process will take normally 20 minutes. But during holidays and weekend, it could take more than that. You will enter China Mainland and arrive at Shenzhen Train Station. Buy a ticket to Guangzhou East. The journey long for only one hour. I have tried this during my 3rd visit to GZ. What I can say, you must have the guts to choose this option! All together will cost you only RMB 130. Cheap huh.....

Traveling by public transport namely the Subway/Metro is the best mean to visit the famous Garment and Cloth Plaza In Guangzhou.

The stop you should take is Guangzhou Railway Station from Line 2.

Exit from H Exit. You will first see Baima Plaza.

Apabila anda ke China sama ada ke GZ atau ke Yiwu, pastinya anda akan memborong dengan kuantiti yang banyak. Anda pasti tertanya2 bagaimana nak menghantar barang-barang borongan yang sudah tentu banyak dan berkotak-kotak. Nak bawa naik Air Asia tentu sekali mustahil kerana charge yg dikenakan mahal. Jadi bagaimana???

Cari syarikat Freight Forwarder, Freight Management, Logistic Service yang ada perkhidmatan menghantar barang dari China ke Malaysia. Hubungi kami untuk dapatkan maklumat lanjut berkenaan perkhidmatan shipping ini.
Kami akan memberikan quotation (biasanya dalam rm / cbm ) kepada anda dan alamat gudang kami di Guangzhou atau Yiwu. Kami juga akan berikan anda kod rujukan dan borang pesanan utk barang2 anda
Setibanya anda disana, hubungi gudang tersebut dan dapatkan alamat gudang dan contact mereka (Kami akan berikan kpd anda contact gudang disana).
Apabila anda selesai membeli dan memborong, berikan alamat gudang tadi kepada supplier dan minta mereka hantar barang ke gudang. Suruh mereka isikan borang pesanan untuk rujukan kita dan shipping company. Biasanya tiada charge akan dikenakan. Pastikan mereka hantar barang tersebut sebelum anda berangkat pulan ke Malaysia
Sehari sebelum anda meninngalkan China, eloklah anda pergi ke gudang dan periksa semua barang anda.
Tunggu 2-3 minggu. Buat bayaran dan barang anda akan smapai ke depan pintu rumah anda.

I dont recommend you to use bus.

Guangzhou vs Yiwu

ALhamdulillah saya kini di GZ masuk hari keempat dan akan pulang Jumaat ini. Trip kali ini adalah yg paling mencabar saya rasa. Dengan pelbagai ujian dan dugaan yang dihadapi, harapnya trip masa akan datang akan menjadi lebih teratur dan kemas.

Beberapa update GZ

Yide Lu dalam pembinaan. Jalan sangat sesak dan berabuk. Sukar nak bergerak dan cari barang dalam keadaan selesa.

Masjid Makam Saad Abi Waqas juga dalam pembinaan. Tidak dibuka untuk umum sepanjang pembinaan.

Harga barangan nampaknya ada kenaikan. Bila ditanya kpd peniaga kenapa harga mahal, mereka beri alasan masalah forex yg menyaksikan nilai RMB agak menyusut kebelakangan ini.

Tiket Air Asia jg makin mahal ke GZ.

Ini kali ketiga saya ke GZ. Pada Januari lalu saya berpeluang utk kali pertama ke Yiwu.

InsyaALlah bila pulang nanti saya akan buat entry perbandingan atr Yiwu dan Guangzhou.
